The Upsilon Eta Zeta Chapter is committed to service and serving the Southwestern, Pennsylvania area. The chapter has been involved with local and national organizations since its inception in the spring of 2005. Upsilon Eta Zeta has paired up with the Make a Wish foundation and raised $1,500. Every year YHZ sorors participate in the “Light the Night” Walk and have raised over $2000 in its efforts to fight Leukemia. Every year rain or shine the chapter has taken part in the walk. The March of Dimes is a national service initative of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. The Upsilon Eta Zeta Chapter participates in the Fayette Walk in Southwestern, PA. Each year the sorors sell booties, have Chinese Auctions and fundraisers every year to contribute to the walk. Every year the sorors of YHZ sponsor a family through its Adopt-A-Family for Christmas program. The chapter has been able to provide Christmas gifts for families in the area who have experienced a disaster and are not able to provide a Christmas for their families. YHZ has been very successful in program and plans to continue it on for many years. YHZ has been a part of the PA highway adoption program and actively participates in highway clean two times a year. YHZ also participates in the Fall Food Share and Thanksgiving Food Drive in partnership with the Fayette County Community Action Agency. These two service projects feed thousands of families in the rural areas of Washington and Fayette Counties. In recent years, YHZ has sponsored the Easter Baskets for the elderly program. This service project contains I-Care-Kits and is given to elderly residents every Easter. In the last two years, YHZ has given out over 120 baskets to elderly residents in Fayette County. YHZ recently sent 20 boxes of supplies to Iraq for our troops and school supplies for the Iraqi children. Every spring YHZ conducts CPR and First Aide classes at California University of PA. Upsilon Eta Zeta is committed to excellence and we are never tiring in our endeavors.
